About the Glossary

This multilingual HIV treatment information glossary is available in English alongside with its translation into 12 languages: Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, French, Hausa, Jula (Dioula), Lingala, Punjabi, Spanish, Swahili, Tagalog, Tamil and Vietnamese. It is meant to help you understand some common English terms used in HIV/AIDS.

The English terms in the glossary are arranged in alphabetical order. Beside the English term is the term translated in your language. Below each term is a simple definition in English. Some terms are synonyms and will direct you to another term for the definition. These are indicated by the phrase “See:” followed by another term.

Example:
   cardiovascular disease - 心血管病
A disease that affects the heart or blood vessels; examples include heart attack, stroke, and congestive heart failure

   CAT scan
      See: computed tomography scan

This Web site uses Unicode fonts. If your language does not display properly, please download the corresponding free font from the Microsoft library of Unicode fonts.
